Sonic Underground Ep 4: Friend or Foe
Prologue:
A red echidna sat at the shrine with a huge green emerald, meditating as he spoke.
Echidna: (narrating) My name is Knuckles the Echidna, guardian of the Master Emerald. I am perhaps the last of my kind. I don't know why my ancestors left me here at this island, why it is my fate...destined to be here, forever.
He then heard a ship landing. He woke from his meditation as he looked around with his violet eyes.
Knuckles (Echidna): Who's there?
He then turned to where he saw a ship landing somewhere. He then glared as he thought.
Knuckles: (thinking) Whoever is on the island, they better not take the Master Emerald.
As the red echidna neared the ship some time later, Sleet had finished repairing the ship back to the way it was while Dingo was eating some tuna sandwich.
Dingo: Mmm, tuna fish; my favorite!
Sleet: (jumping down from the ship) Shut up and eat, Robotnik should be calling soon.
As he was about to eat the tuna, the communicator turned on.
Bocoe's Voice: Attention Sleet & Dingo. Please answer in the next ten seconds or Dr. Robotnik will be furious.
Dingo: Huh? (looks at his stomach) Boy, I must be hungrier than I thought; my stomach is really growling, and it sounds like one of Robotnik's robots.
Sleet: (sweatdrops) You are so stupid...
Decoe's Voice: Beginning countdown! 10...
Dingo: (confused) Me? But I just said-
Sleet: (anger mark) It is Robotnik and his robots, you dumbass!
Decoe's Voice: 9...8...
Dingo: (looking around) Where?
Decoe's Voice: 7...6...
The wolf then pointed to the backpack on Dingo's back.
Sleet: On the communicator! (goes behind him) Now hold still, you half-wit!
Decoe's Voice: 5...4...
As Sleet went through Dingo's bag, he took out a book on Vampires, a teddy bear with stitches, and a picture of Sonia.
Decoe's Voice: 3...2...
Sleet then found the communicator and turned it on as Decoe finished the countdown.
Decoe's Voice: 1...
The image then showed the two robots, trying to look at the screen.
Bocoe: It's about time. Where were you?
Decoe: Never mind that, Dr. Robotnik wants you two to do a mission since you two are stuck on the island. Apparently the hedgehogs believed the rumors.
Bocoe: (looks at a picture of the island) Intelligence reports they're on the way.
Decoe: You know the plan, turn the echidna against the hedgehogs and get the Master Emerald for our master.
Sleet: And when we take the emerald, The island will plummet down and crash, and they will fall with it, right?
Robots: How did you know?!
Sleet: (looks at a picture of a boy wolf & boy weasel) Let's just say I learned a few things when I was a child. Sleet out.
Robots: Hey, wait-
He turned off the communicator before they could finish. Sleet put the picture back inside his pocket as he got Dingo up.
Sleet: (gives him the communicator) Put that in your back-pack and let's go find the echidna.
Back with Knuckles, he didn't exactly hear what the wolf was talking about, but he did hear Sleet's words as Dingo put the communicator up.
Knuckles: (thinking) So, they want to find me, eh? I'll let them find me all right...
He then headed to the other side as Dingo heard a bit of noise.
Dingo: What was that?
Sleet: (sarcastically) Knowing you, you would've heard a vampire right now.
Dingo: Don't be silly, Sleet. Vampires only come at night.
He slapped the dingo's head as he glared.
Dingo: Uh, anyway, who's this echidna?
The two walked, searching for Knuckles as the wolf spoke.
Sleet: He's called Knuckles, and he's in for a big Robotnik surprise!
A familiar echidna watched over the two as he smirked.
Sleet: This echidna is tough, and he's especially known for his-
But then the two fell as he shouted.
Sleet: Traaaaaps!
The two lied unconscious as Knuckles came out.
Knuckles: Now let's see what those two were gonna do with me.
That night, Sleet stirred as Dingo woke up as well.
Sleet: What happened?
That was when the fire started as the two started to turn.
Both: Whoa!
Then, Knuckles came out of the shadows, smirking at them.
Knuckles: You two should've stayed to wherever it was you both came from! Now I'm afraid that you will be dinner.
The two were shocked as they kept being turned over the fire like a cooked turkey. Little did any of them knew was that a yellow squirrel was watching from above.
Squirrel: (thinking) Man, Rico's training better be worth it on this island...
Dingo: (gulps) You're...not gonna eat us, are you?
Knuckles: Who said anything about me eating you bastards? I'm a vegetarian.
The two sighed in relief. Then, Knuckles whistled as what looked like a dinosaur came out of the woods. It shocked the yellow squirrel.
Knuckles: I may not eat you, but Chomps will!
The two gulped as the wolf spoke.
Sleet: You got us all wrong. We're trying to help you!
Knuckles: (glares) I doubt it. You look like thieves to me.
Sleet: No, you don't understand, we're here to stop the real invaders: 3 hedgehogs! I can prove it!
Knuckles: (glances) How?
Sleet: (Anime smirks) Just look in my pocket.
The red echidna glanced at him more as the yellow squirrel shook his head.
Squirrel: (thinking) Knux...don't...
Knuckles stopped the rotation with Dingo towards the flames. Knuckles got a device out of Sleet's pocket as the wolf spoke again.
Sleet: Just press the button...
The dingo looked worried as he was now close to the flames.
Dingo: (scared) Uh, Sleet-
Sleet: (glares) Shut up! (to Knuckles) The red button!
Dingo: (sweating) Sleet!
Sleet: (anger mark) Put a cork in it, dumbass! (to Knuckles) Uh, just look at it, will you?
Knuckles glared for a moment, but then pressed the red button as an image of Sonic, Manic, & Sonia appeared, though they had fake voices.
Sonic: Come on, guys, we gotta find the Master Emerald before we get caught by that bastard, Knuckles!
He gasped as the other holograms spoke.
Sonia: Sonic, you're always wrong, but in this case, I'll make an exception.
Manic: Yeah, that stupid son of a bitch won't know what hit us!
Knuckles looked angrily at what he had heard.
Knuckles: (anger mark) Son of a bitch!? How dare they do this! I'll show them!
Sleet: (looking at the fire) Ahem, we're getting a little warm here. So, if you don't mind...
He glanced a bit before cutting the ropes. Sleet looked like he had a few smoke burns while Dingo looked like he was almost roasted with his boxers showing.
Knuckles: If those hedgehogs want the Master Emerald, they're gonna have to get through me first. (looks at Sleet & Dingo) You have a deal, for now. But after that, you must leave Angel Island immediately!
Sleet: (dusting himself) A deal is a deal, my friend. We'll be off this island before you can say "Sonic the Hedgehog"!
Squirrel: (thinking) Sonic the Hedgehog? Is that who this echidna's dealing with?
The beast looked down as Knuckles spoke.
Knuckles: (pets Chomps) Sorry, bud, but cheer up, will you? I heard that hedgehogs had come into season.
The echidna left as the squirrel looked at the scene. The beast approached the two bounty hunters, growling at them.
Dingo: Er, nice doggy...
The monster took a step closer as both it and Dingo glared at each other for a moment.
Sleet: (sweatdrops) He-he, we're outta here!
It roared as Sleet & Dingo ran off, afraid. The monster looked at the device left behind from Knuckles as the squirrel jumped down to grab it.
Squirrel: Uh, easy there boy...the name's Private Ray the Squirrel of the Windy Squirrel Army, and you don't want to eat me, do you?
The monster glanced as both of them jumped to grab the device.
Ray (Squirrel): (struggling) Let go!
The squirrel accidentally let go as the beast swallowed it whole. Ray gasped as it hiccuped when the hologram came out through its nose.
Sonic: (stuck in loophole) We gotta find that Master Emerald! Master Emerald! Master!
The squirrel backed away as the beast came closer to the squirrel. All he could do was scream.
Ray: (from in the forest) Ahhh!
Story:
Aleena: (narrating) Following their quest, my children continued to learn one lesson: that things are not always what they seem.
It was now daytime on Angel Island as a white hover van with an SU Logo flew towards the island.
Manic's Voice: Hang loose, guys, it's just a rumor.
Sonia's Voice: Duh! But what if mother really is here?
Sonic's Voice: She'd better be, I missed the opening of a new chili-dog stand for this!
Cream's Voice: Mr. Sonic, sometimes you can sound pretty silly.
The van landed in the forest where it came to a stop. The van opened and out came Sonic, Sonia, and Mina.
Sonic: This is the dreaded Angel Island? (sarcastically) Ooh, I'm so scared!
Mina: Sonic, be careful on this island.
Sonia: (glancing) And remember what the Oracle said: "Angel Island is fraught with danger. Beware the echidna."
Sonic: (confused) Fraught? What the hell kind of stupid word is that?
Cream: (coming out) It means filled, as in filled with danger.
Sonic: What danger?! If you're so 'fraught', I'll check this place out.
Sonic runs as Sonia tried to warn him.
Sonia: Sonic, wait!
Bunnie, Cheese, & Manic then came out as they all heard Sonic's scream.
Sonic's Voice: Ahhh!
They gasped as they headed to where they heard the scream and found Sonic caught in the trap.
All (but Sonic): Huh?
Manic: Just hanging out, bro?
Sonia: Like I said, fraught with danger!
Sonic: (sweatdrops) Danger? (looks at the hammock) You call this danger?
Manic: (Anime smirks) We'll call this: Echidna 1, Hedgehog 0!
The group laughed as Sonic glared.
Sonic: (anger mark) That's not very funny!
As Sonic was cut down by Mina, he glared. A little later, as the group walked around the island, Sonia heard something in the bushes.
Sonia: (looks around) Hmm?
Cream: (looks concerned) Miss Sonia, what are you-
Sonia: Shh!
The group heard some noises as well. Bunnie then spoke to her allies.
Bunnie: Ah got a bad feelin' someone's gonna be close by us.
Sonic: Big whoop! We're following your & Sonia's feelings around? (sarcastically) It just doesn't get any better than this.
Mina: (points the other way) Guys, look!
She dashed over to where she pointed as the others followed her. When they came to a small pool, Mina spoke.
Mina: Look at this, a sacred pool. I read about these during my monk days.
Then a geyser erupted from the small pool.
Sonia: I can't believe it really exists.
Cream: (about to touch it) Yeah, it looks really pretty.
Cheese: Chao!
Bunnie: (stops her) Hey, don't touch it, Sugah Cream.
Cream: Why?
Sonia: I see something...
Then an image of Queen Aleena appeared. She looked like she was running from something.
Manic: (gasps) Mom!
Sonia: She's here then.
Mina: (smirks) I knew it.
Sonic: Wow, looks like you were right, Mina.
Sonia: You're saying she's right? (turns to the green hedgehog) Manic, You're a witness!
Then, the geyser stopped and just as it did, the ground began to open up with an earthquake. Out of the ground came the red echidna, Knuckles. He landed on his feet as Manic spoke.
Manic: Whoa, dude, you nailed that landing. (smirks) I give it a 10.
Knuckles: (angrily) You thieves, get off the island before I force you.
Bunnie: (to Mina) Not exactly the welcome mat we expected, eh Mina?
Sonia then noticed the dirt on her from when she landed on the ground.
Sonia: (Anime glares) Look at this! You better have a real good dry-cleaners on this rock or else!
Knuckles: Or else what, steal the Master Emerald? I'll stop you seven at any cost!
Cheese: (confused) Chao?
Sonic: (Chibi smiles) Hey, we're not thieves...(looks at Manic) mostly...anyway-
Knuckles: (clenches his fists) Don't try sweet talking me, it won't work! (preparing to fight) I hate thieves, and I'll fight you all, even to death to protect the Master Emerald!
The red echidna prepared himself as Sonic glared and prepared to try to snap some sense into the red echidna. Knuckles tried to punch the blue hedgehog, but missed.
Sonic: (sarcastically) Nice to meet you too...
Knuckles: (glares) Like I said, I hate thieves!
Sonia: (running up to Sonic) Sonic, are you okay?
Manic: Boy, this guy's good.
Mina: (Anime glances) You're kidding, right?
Sonic: (standing up) You guys nuts? Cause if you're thinking of starting a fan club, Manic...
Knuckles dug underneath the ground as the blue hedgehog spoke.
Sonic: (looks at the ground)...here comes your hero!
