The drill machine headed down the long path before finally arriving to where the rubies were. It opened up before the group came out.

Tails: There it is!

Tails smiled at the big ruby.

Batula: Hmmm...zese gems are interesting. If Nack vas here, he'd probably hock zese powerful gems immediately.

Tails took one with a grin.

Tails: Just my size.

Sonia: Mine too.

Tails took off his backpack, then brought out what appeared to be a buster while Sonia took out her keyboard.

Sonia: Ready to rock, guys?

The fox opened the compartments before Tails placed the bigger ruby inside Sonia's keyboard, then placed the ruby he had inside the buster. The compartments closed before the two aimed.

Sonia: Ready? Fire!

The two fired around the cavern before the whole cavern began shaking.

Conker: Whoa! It's gonna blow!

Humba Wumba: Hurry, you two!

The two quickly hopped back in the drill machine before it closed. It headed out, laser drilling a new cavern. At the Emerald Hill Zone, the hole opened up as the drill came out. When all was clear, the group sighed as they came out.

Ray: We made it!

They looked at the ruined area of the Emerald Hill Zone.

Manic: Whoa, dude.

After a moment, the group saw smoke coming out of the hole.

Mina: Encore, anyone?

The others cheered while only Sonia, Cream, Cheese, Mindy, and Batula looked concerned.

Cream: Come on, we have two more things to take care of.

They nodded, heading to the machine.

Tails: Huh? Where are you going?

He followed after them into the drill machine. Just then, as the others laughed, they heard a closing noise. To everyone's shock, they saw the drill heading off.

Mina: Sonia?

Manic: I bet she's going to rescue Bartleby.

Mina: Eep! She's walking right into a trap! As Sonic would say, time to haul some serious haunch!

She took Manic's hand before the two headed off.

Julie-su: Hey, wait!

Remmington: Don't go!

Mina: (shouting) Catch the rest of you later!

Trevor: By the way Mina's going, she'll be in the trap first!

Humba Wumba: I'll inform them. Don't worry.

She glowed a bit for a moment. Inside the drill, Cream gasped as she felt the glowing placed inside her.

Cream: Eep! Oh no!

Sonia: What's wrong?

Tails: Cream?

Cream: We gotta pick up Mr. Sonic first and fast!

She turned it around before the drill went through the mountains. A bit later, at court, Robotnik looked seriously to Bartleby.

Robotnik: Let the condemned prisoner approach the bench.

Bartleby sighed before he arrived to him.

Robotnik: Are you ready for sentencing?

Bartleby: As ready as I'll ever be.

Robotnik: For crimes of treason against the government, that being me, this court sentences you to-

Just then, the door was kicked down before in came Manic and Mina.

Mina: Don't worry, Tails, everyone, we're here to-

To the two's notice, Tails, Batula, and the others were nowhere found.

Mina: Oh crap! Now we have to rescue Bartleby!

Robotnik: Hedgehog and mongoose! Seize them!

She smirked toward him.

Mina: Well, well, if it isn't the prince of bastardness.

Nic: Don't just stand there, Dingo!

Sleet: Right, get them!

The hunter nodded as he with the Swatbots and Coconuts headed toward them.

Coconuts: Lemme at 'em!

Mina: As Sonic says, time to juice 'em!

Manic: And reduce 'em!

Mina: Cruisin' and bruisin'!

The two dashed before Mina kicked the dingo in the gut.

Dingo: Ugh!

Manic, meanwhile, went behind the robots with Sleet and Nic, tapping on the controls for each one.

Manic: Good to see I haven't lost the old touch. Ha-ha-ha.

Just then, they were deactivated before the two yelped.

Both: Shit!

They grunted with the deactivated Swatbots over the two.

Nic: Gah! I hate you, Manic! You're so damn cocky!

Sleet: I hate that hedgehog!

Caninestein: I cannot stand this any longer!

He dashed toward the robot with Windimere and Farrell gasping.

Farrell: No!

Windimere: You'll be blown up by betrayal!

The scientist, however, grabbed Coconuts' tail, grunting.

Caninestein: You people have caused enough danger to our planet! I won't allow you to continue any further!

Coconuts: What?! If that's the case...

He brought out from his compartment a remote-like detonator.

Coconuts: Time to blow you to kingdom come...uh, as soon as I find the right one.

He fiddled with the machine before the professor noticed Farrell and Windimere quickly sliding their arms onto his detonator bracelet.

Manic: No, what are you doing, Farrell?

Farrell: Manic...Mina...I was proud to be your teacher. I believe now would be a good time for you to move on...

Windimere: Bartleby, I know the engagement wasn't right, but at least...at least you made Sonia happy. Please...tell my Sonia...to live and to be a graceful princess.

The robots shoved the doctor's foot out as he looked shocked just as Coconuts grinned.

Coconuts: Got it!

He pressed the button as the other free willed robots gasped with horror.

Hendrix: No!

Uncle Chuck: Windimere! Farrell!

It was too late when the detonator activated just as Sonia's group arrived. Pieces of robotic parts came as the good ones gasped with horror.

Mina: No...Farrell...

Sonia: No...Lady Windimere!

Tears filled the females' eyes as Cream cried with her chao.

Manic: (angrily) Coconuts, you're gonna pay for that!

Coconuts: What?! I meant the scientist!

However, the free willed robots hit him down.

Robotnik: What!? How did they regain their free wills anyway!?

Sonic's Voice: CHAOS CONTROL!

At that moment, a familiar hedgehog with echidna holding his hand kicked the fat man down. They landed just as Banjo, Kazooie, Rodent, Bunnie, Antoine, Amy, Dulcy, Mighty with his chao, and Team Chaotix arrived.

Amy: Sorry we're late, guys. Cream had to pick us up back at where that castle once was.

Kazooie: Besides, haven't you guys heard the expression: "Ladies first"?

She flew toward a Swatbot, pecking its head while the female members, minus Sonia, hit a few more down. Sonia took out her instrument as Tails brought out the buster, both firing and amazing the trio hunters with them.

Charmy: Whoa, where did you get that power source!?

Batula: Um...let's see...how should I put it in laymen's terms...none of your damn business!

Vector: (sweatdrops) So much for that.

Knuckles: Glad you informed us of what's happening. Now we have a new reason to hate Robotnik!

Dulcy: And take him down!

Antoine: Do not worry, Bunnie, I shall protect you!

Mighty: Heh, about me going back home...ah, I don't think my family's gonna mind me staying in Knothole for a while, do you?

Rodent: Uh, not at all.

Sonia: Besides, better late than never.

Amy: You got that right.

Robotnik used the lever on his chair, going high and away from danger.

Robotnik: FINISH THEM AND THE FREE WILLED ROBOTS! And you'll know what happens if you don't obey!

The vampire grunted, being hit by Coconuts. He hit the ground, unknowingly touching his medallion. To his shock as was everyone's, his medallion transformed into a violin.

Batula: I'm...I'm chosen!? But vhy?

Manic: Nevermind that, you've got trouble. Use your instrument like a weapon!

He dodged the laser before taking the handle, playing the violin. To the good guys' notice, a laser hit the robots.

Hendrix: Goodness, he's good.

The wolf and weasel crawled out before looking at most of the good guys bringing out their instruments.

Sleet: Hmph, well two can play that game!

Nic: If our medallions worked like theirs...

The two touched their medallions, bringing out her keyboard and his saxophone.

Tails: Uh oh. I think they figured it out.

Kazooie: Okay, song cue time.

As the song was playing, the good guys were hitting and destroying the Swatbots while Caninestein, Mindy, and Dulcy quickly took Bartleby out and Mighty was using his strength against Coconuts with the Swatbots, destroying the latter.

As the song was ending, the court was a mess with Coconuts and Robotnik groaning while Sleet, Dingo, and Nic were caught by the robot wolf.

Holmes: You should watch yourselves, son.

The normal wolf looked stunned, noticing the robot wolf's smile on him.

Sleet: Father? You're all right?

Uncle Chuck: Come on, we have to leave!

Hendrix: We're not safe here anymore, I'm afraid.

At that moment, the instruments from both sides were turned to medallions.

Batula: I understand...

Sonia and Manic took the robotic heads of their mentors while looking saddened.

Caninestein: I'm sorry, I really am.

Tails: Let's split, guys!

Good Guys: Right.

Mighty: Good call.

The wall was blown off. Quickly, they with the free willed robots left, though Sonic stopped briefly and looked at the groaning ones.

Sonic: We're gone, but not forgotten.

Finally, he left while the fat man, frowning, glared to Sleet, Nic, and Dingo while Coconuts looked annoyed.

Robotnik: Sleet, Nic, Dingo...I would like a word with you.

The trio began to look more fearful at him just as two familiar robots came in.

Scratch: Sir, we did it! We got rid of Sonic!

Grounder: Yeah, but uh, why's everything in ruins?

Coconuts: Because, you dopes...SONIC WAS JUST HERE!!

The two yelped a bit.

Both: WHAT!?

At an abandoned airport, on the viewing monitor, Sonia with Bartleby, Mindy, her father, Hooter, and Mighty watched the announcement with Robotnik on it.

Robotnik: Citizens, new evidence has come to light, proving that prisoner Bartleby is innocent of all charges. I am sure that there are no hard feelings over this unfortunate misunderstanding and that Bartleby will continue his generous support of my, uh...the regein.

Then, Bartleby looked seriously to Sonia.

Lionel: Bartleby?

Mindy: We have to go.

Mighty: Yeah, you better, plus can you drop Hooter off to let my family know I'm okay?

She nodded.

Bartleby: I'm not being good at being noble, Sonia, well...actually I am, because well, I'm nobility, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of two little people don't amount to a hill of chili dogs compared to protecting this planet.

Sonia: (pats his cheek) Yeah, well the hovercraft's waiting, but we'll always have Emerald Coast. (grins) Here's looking at you kid.

Bartleby only smiled before being picked up by Mindy.

Mindy: We'll take care of him...I promise.

The mink was placed in the hovercraft while the two smiled, her father grinned, and Hooter got inside. At that moment, Batula came rushing to them.

Batula: Vait!

He panted, looking exhausted.

Mighty: What? What's wrong?

Batula: Humba already left vithout saying goodbye and I...I need a ride home.

Bartleby: I'm sure we'll drop you off, sir. Do not worry, we're stopping at Mobitransylvania first.

He smiled softly before getting on. It finally closed before it took off. At that moment, when it was gone, Sonic, Manic, Cream, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Team Chaotix came up to them.

Manic: Hey sis, uh, are you sorry you don't live in that world anymore?

Sonia: Manic, I'm right where I wanna be.

Tails: That's good.

Sonic: You're a real Freedom Fighter, sis.

Charmy: Right, one of the best.

Knuckles: And a good one, in fact.

Cream giggled a bit.

Vector: Well come on, let's get to Knothole before those goons show up.

They nodded while heading off. As they did, Sonia and Espio unknowingly held hands together.

Sonia: Team Chaotix, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Espio: Next time, don't speak any Casablanca styles like tonight, okay?

They only laughed together happily.
